StarCraft 2 Censors in South Korea

The build for the South Korean market of StarCraft II was just released on May 11. The anticipated foreign release will have censorship added. StarCraft 2 will have all blood, smoking and foul language removed. The blood will be recolored into blog globs. The smoking will be removed from cut scenes and all “vulgar language” will be removed.

The previous version that was release in South Korean had been given an Adult-only rating by The Games Rating Board.

The new removal from the game now gives the game an Age 12 rating, expanding the games target market.

“Since StarCraft 2 was originally developed to be a game adolescents could enjoy, we’re very pleased with the Game Rating Board’s decision,” said Blizzard, via the translation. “In the remaining time until StarCraft 2 goes on sale, we’ll do our best to continue to perfect the game so that even more fans can enjoy it.”

Blizzard did go onto say that an Adult Version of the game may also be released for those who want the more racier version of the game. This decision is only for the South Korean Market right now.

Korea has been very partial to the original StarCraft, as it is treated as a national televised sport. Recently the original game was in the news for a betting scandal that involved some of the games top players.
