Blizzard has posted on their Battle.net forums that the initial launch of their Beta will come to an end May 31, 2010. This downtime is only meant to fix hardware and software issues that have come up during this initial beta period. Blizzard is preparing the game for the final phase of testing before the final release of the game on July 27. The PC’s StarCraft 2 Beta initially began in mid February of this year, while the MAC gamers didn’t get their beta until the end of April.
Blizzard is known to run these “stress tests” before a launch of their popular games. More word on the second beta is still yet to be determined.
Some speculate that the next phase will not be an open beta, but a closed beta. What will that mean to those who received a free beta with their pre-order copies? Perhaps the next beta is for them! We will keep you updated as more is revealed. Counting down the days to Launch!
